Here's how you can use aromatherapy for headaches, with an energy healing perspective.
Headaches can be seen as an energetic disturbance. Often if you put your hand above the area on the head where someone is experiencing a headache, you can feel the disturbed energy.
Pure essential oils have inherent harmony and order in their energy
pattern. Like anything with harmonious energy, they can be used to heal disturbed energy, such as a headache, and return it to more order and harmony. When the energy returns to normal, the headache goes away.
While people have successfully used many essential oils for headaches, lavender is, hands down, the oil of choice.
Because it's so effective -- and so gentle that it's pretty foolproof, even for beginners -- lavender essential oil is the only aromatherapy remedy that I'm going to discuss.
Lavender essential oil has traditionally been used both for headache relief and to promote relaxation. Since many headaches are caused by tension and stress, lavender sort of covers several bases at once.
It's so easy to use -- just put some on a kleenex and sniff it from time to time.
Lavender oil is very benign for most people, so you could also mix a few drops with a carrier oil and rub it into your temples, the back of your neck, or anyplace else that is relaxing and relieving to you.
You can buy it at most health food stores. Just make sure that the bottle says "pure essential oil," or something similar, rather than "perfume oil." The U.S. company Mountain Rose Herbs and the Canadian company New Directions Aromatics are good online sources. Both have very high quality products.
My only word of caution is that some migraine sufferers are very
sensitive to smells. If that's you, use lavender oil cautiously at
first, until you know its effects on you.You don't want to make things worse.
