The Laws of Attraction:

Using Them When You Have Serious Health Issues

The Laws of Attraction (LOA) are simple: whatever you put your thoughts and attention on is what will be attracted to you--so keep your thoughts focused on what you want, not what you don't want! It's a kind of energy healing--using the energy of your thoughts to influence your life and health for the better.

For example, if you place your thoughts on what's going well in your life, you'll attract more of the same. However, if you focus on what's going wrong in your life, or what you don't have, that's what you'll attract and perpetuate.

The Laws of Attraction say that if you want good health, focus your attention and thoughts on good health. Don't devote your attention to ill health--don't think about it, and don't talk about it. (Except, of course, with your doctor! The Law of Attraction is NOT saying that you shouldn't acknowledge and seek medical attention for health issues. Just get them taken care of and then don't worry about them or dwell on them!)

Using the LOA for improving health and wellness makes a lot of sense. It harnesses the power of our thoughts to influence our lives. Since the power of the mind-body connection is already well documented by science, using the Universal Laws of Attraction to influence our physical health makes perfect sense.

It's very straightforward for boosting wellness and energy, and dealing with minor health issues.

But it becomes more complicated if you have a major health issue, such as cancer, auto-immune disease, heart disease, etc. With major health issues, the fourth step--being non-attached to the actual form that the healing comes in--is critical.

Curing vs. Healing
To put it another way, the distinction between curing and healing needs to be kept very clear. You may or not receive curing--the cessation of your physical disease or symptoms. But with our without curing, you can always receive healing, which can come in any form, and at any level--body, mind, or spirit.

Changing Your Relationship to an Illness
For example, with our without being cured, you could use the Law of Attraction to help you change your relationship to a disease for the better.

  • You might begin to think of the illness as a teacher, a messenger, or part of your evolutionary path. For example, I knew a man who had been a powerful businessman, but had been almost completely paralyzed by a stroke. He celebrated the day of his stroke as his birthday--because it had been the beginning of his spiritual awakening. He was one of the most radiantly and joyful people I ever met. He was never cured, but he was healed--not from his stroke, but from his former state of being spiritually out of touch.

  • Your relationship to pain might change. Often there is a large component of fear associated with pain that significantly intensifies our suffering. Your healing might remove this fear, and thus lessen your suffering.

  • You might use an illness as a way to focus your life, cutting away what is extraneous.

  • You might use an illness as a way to develop more compassion for others.

The ways that an outcome of healing might show up for a person are infinite, and absolutely unique to that person. The key is in remaining open to whatever form it shows up in.

Important!
Of course, with any health issue, it is important that you seek and follow the advice of a qualified medical professional. Use approaches such as the Laws of Attraction as a complement to, not a substitute for, regular medical care.

It's also important not to use the concepts of the Law of Attraction in a negative way--to blame ourselves or others for illnesses. Sometimes things just happen to us. It's how we respond to them that shapes and creates our lives. And while illness and disease certainly represent an imbalance, the imbalance may have originated, for example, in one's environment, rather than in one's own thoughts and emotions.

Conclusion
The Laws of Attraction are magic--the ordinary kind of magic each of us does all the time, often without being aware of it. By being more conscious about using it, we really canshape our lives to be healthier and more joyful.
